This little treasure was discovered nestling in the castle at St. Michael's Mount, Cornwall.
Whilst on a visit there, I discovered a small oak table tucked away in a quiet corner in the reading room with the most beautiful carvings of wild primroses on it dating back to the 15th century.
After doodling loads of quick sketches in my journal, this is the design that emerged....
I love that it links to primroses as they are one of my most favourite blooms in early Springtime and also that the original artisan carver would have used his surroundings for inspiration in a similar way to how I do all these years later....
I wonder what he would say if he knew his design had inspired mine?
